Join the Milwaukee County Zoo on Sunday, May 10 to help celebrate a happy Mother’s Day with free admission to all moms, courtesy of Peoples State Bank. Parking and other attraction rates still apply.

 

While celebrating with Mom, stop by the Zebra Yard at the Ladish Co. Rhino Care Center to see Grant’s zebra Thelma, who gave birth to a girl foal, Mistari, on April 22. Both are easily viewable outside, along with the Zoo’s other zebra, Kelly. At Stearns Family Apes of Africa, guests can also visit bonobo mom, Elema, and Remi, who will celebrate his first birthday on May 30. Check out greater kudu mom, Imani, who gave birth to male Bosede in January, at the African Waterhole habitat.

 

Plan a stop to Primates of the World to support Missing Orangutan Mothers (M.O.M.). MCZ partners with other zoos across North America and the globe to support the Orangutan Outreach Organization and other M.O.M. events annually. The M.O.M. campaign honors the long-lasting and close bond that forms between orangutan mothers and their offspring. Young orangutans typically stay with their mothers until around eight years old. Mother’s Day and orangutan-themed cookies will be on sale, as well as orangutan-art decorated necklaces, orangutan paintings and other printed items. All proceeds support orangutan conservation and rehabilitation efforts in Indonesia.
