In 2013, Calie Herbst, a former Spanish teacher with three little ones, was frustrated with how much time she spent searching way too many websites to find fun events & activities for families. So she founded Milwaukee With Kids. Her goal was to find the best this city has to offer families and share it with other parents. In one place.

Today, Calie and her team take the work out of finding fun for kids & families around Milwaukee. They connect active parents and caregivers to the city’s best kid-friendly businesses, activities and events every day via:

  • A Daily Calendar of events organized by region

  • A Weekend Guide of top weekend events

  • A monthly roundup of Free Events

  • A weekly eNewsletter & popular social media channels

  • Annual Summer CampBirthday Guides and other seasonal guides.

  • Partnerships with nearly 100 local businesses and organizations that share our passion for making Milwaukee a great (and fun) place to raise a family. (Learn more about advertising with us!)

We run Milwaukee With Kids according to a set of values that we hold dear:

  • Integrity: We do what we say, and we're honest.

  • High Standards: We strive for our work to be the very best it can be, we're committed to growth and self-improvement, and we're forward thinking.

  • Resourcefulness: We're nimble, multi-faceted, and we take ownership of our work.

  • Results-Driven: We're intentional and thoughtful with our content and in our partnerships. We want our readers to love what they see, and we want our partners to get the results they seek.

  • Fun: We love our work, and we don't take ourselves too seriously.  (Seriously!)

  • Balance: Our team is made up of women who are balancing careers, families, and their own interests. And we encourage that.

Bridget McMahon lives in Wauwatosa. She worked in events planning until she made the change to be a stay-at-home mom after her second child.  Bridget and her husband, Drew, have two young children.  During the week, Bridget and her children stay busy at play groups, libraries, the zoo, and the Betty Brinn Musem.  On the weekends she is usually taking the whole family out to a unique event around town.  Her favorite family activities are apple picking, farmer's markets and trick-or-treating.

Lisa is enjoying this short season of her life while she's home with her kids, trying to enjoy all her precious time with them. During the colder months she and her family enjoy visiting the libraries, playing at Just for Fun in Grafton, trying open gyms around town, hiking at Schlitz Audubon, and sledding in Bayside. When it gets warmer, you'll find them at the Milwaukee County Zoo, the JCC Waterpark, and  biking to Klode park for the views of Lake Michigan. She couldn’t imagine raising her son and daughter anywhere else.
