Bronzeville Week is back for its 15th year, and there’s so much for families to enjoy together. From colorful murals to free museum admission, this celebration of Black arts, culture, and community is filled with fun and meaningful experiences for kids of all ages.
Here are our top picks for kid-friendly things to do during Bronzeville Week 2025:
1. Bronzeville Cultural & Arts Festival
Sunday, August 3 | 10:00 AM–6:00 PM
📍 North Avenue between Dr. MLK Jr. Drive & 7th Street
Families can explore vendor booths, grab tasty eats, dance to live entertainment across three stages, and best of all, the Kids’ Zone is back. It’s packed with activities designed just for little ones.
🎨 Don’t miss the chance to help decorate the giant wooden “BRONZEVILLE” letters with artist Lena Ramirez!
2. Bronzeville Good Neighbors Block Party
Wednesday, August 6 | 10:00 AM–4:00 PM

This joyful community block party is full of free family fun – games, art activities, music, and friendly neighbors. It’s hosted by Jazales Art Studio, CopyWrite Magazine, and Black & White Barbershop.
3. Bronzeville Trolley Rides

All aboard! These charming trolley tours are a fun way for families to explore the Bronzeville neighborhood. It’s a unique experience kids won’t forget – and a chance to learn more about the area’s rich history and culture.
4. Free Admission to America’s Black Holocaust Museum

In honor of Bronzeville Week’s 15th anniversary, families can explore this powerful museum for free. While the subject matter is serious, the museum offers interactive and age-appropriate exhibits that can help spark thoughtful conversations with older kids.
5. Backstage Pass: The Making of a Bronzeville Mural + Block Print Workshop

Roll up your sleeves for a hands-on textile block printing experience inspired by Reginald Baylor. It’s a creative, kid-friendly activity that introduces young artists to printmaking in a fun, relaxed setting.
