On June 12 and 13, Milwaukee’s Lakeshore State Park comes alive with oars, paddles, sails, and wooden boats. Milwaukee’s nonprofit organization, All Hands Boatworks, invites families, kids and adults to get out on the water –for free—and experience the city’s lakefront from a whole new angle.
Row or sail one of All Hands Boatworks’ many different boats, built by Milwaukee youths, and tour the Champion, a 38-foot historic sailing vessel.
What to expect: Rowing, paddling or crewing small boats, water safety, and hands-on skills / crafts for all ages. Participants who wish to be on the water must be at least 5 years old and weigh over 50lbs to take a boat ride. Minors must be accompanied by an adult, sign a waiver, and wear provided life jacket. The 38’cutter, Champion, will be available throughout the event for tours and a limited number of sails.
