The Milwaukee Fire Department invites families to attend the recommissioning and christening ceremony of the fireboat Trident on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Discovery World, 500 N Harbor Dr. in Milwaukee.
Following an 18-month renovation and modernization project, the Trident is returning to service protecting Milwaukee’s waterways, harbor, and Lake Michigan shoreline.
The event will include:
• Official recommissioning/christening ceremony
• Fireboat water display and maneuvering demonstration
• Public tours of the Trident
• Meet and greet with Milwaukee firefighters and Boat Team members
• Kid-friendly hands-on activities
Children will even have the opportunity to help “put out fires” using water pumped directly from Lake Michigan through the Trident’s firefighting system.
This is a free public event and families are encouraged to attend.
The Milwaukee Fire Department Boat Team has proudly served the City of Milwaukee for over 120 years and continues to provide marine firefighting, rescue, EMS, and dive support operations throughout Milwaukee’s waterways and Lake Michigan.
