Milwaukee’s premier British style brass band!
The band will open its 41st season with a concert entitled “Brass Thrills and Chills!” on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Brookfield at St. John’s Lutheran Church. This will be a matinee performance at 2:00 pm.
“As the days grow shorter, and the air a bit brisker, we allow ourselves to engage in activities and settings that bring our senses into high alert” said Dr. Mark A. Taylor, the Music Director of Milwaukee Festival Brass. “Treats, burning leaves, occasional frights, the turning colors of the trees – these are all reminders of the pleasures of autumn.”
The season bursts underway with Goff Richards’ tantalizing dessert-first of an opener, “Confection for Brass.” Next, the band explores the more spirited characters of this time of year, with a four movement work titled “Ghosts, Goblins, Witches, and Wizards.” Edward Gregson’s landmark theme and variations masterpiece, “Connotations” calls to mind all the transformations that occur in this season of changes.
A classic William Rimmer (the Sousa of the brass band world) march, “The Black Knight,” a spirited mariachi-inflected rendition of “Remember Me” from Disney Pixar’s “Coco,” and music from the much-loved musical “Wicked” will round out the program.
