Top Weekend Events For Kids (Sept. 30-Oct. 3, 2021)

It’s the first weekend of October, and Southeastern Wisconsin has been showing off its early fall sunshine and perfect weather. There are plenty of family-friendly events to choose from this weekend! Here are our top picks:


1. Sci-Fi Family Day at Discovery World

Saturday, October 2nd from 9:00-4:00
Included with General Admission

Sci-Fi Family Day is officially headed back to Discovery World! Celebrate science fiction, dress up in costume, mingle with Star Wars characters, meet the SE Wisconsin Droid Builders, check out Live Action Role-Playing, try out digital art tools, get a first-hand look at incredible Science Fiction themed LEGO creations, see a real-life mermaid in action, get your face painted, and so much more! 2. Outdoor Movie Night at the Harley Davidson Museum (Free!)

Friday, October 1st from 6:00-8:30 p.m.
Admission: FREE

Join the Menomonee River Valley’s very first outdoor movie and the last outdoor movie in Milwaukee for the season! Trolls World Tour will be on the big screen right on the campus of the iconic Harley-Davidson Museum. You can even bike or walk in on the Hank Aaron State Trail. 3. Apple Fest at New Berlin Historical Society (Free!)

Sunday, October 3rd from 1:00-4:00
Admission: FREE

The New Berlin Historical Society’s Applefest will be held this Sunday, October 3rd from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Tour the historic pioneer homes and buildings, grind and press apples for cider, ride the barrel train, try square dancing in the barn, and peruse local products like Weston’s Heirloom Apples! You can also operate a model railroad, and purchase food and refreshments in the gazebo. Admission is free! Get the details here.

4. Family Free Day at the Milwaukee County Zoo

5. Cider Sunday at Wehr Nature Center

Sunday, October 3rd, 2021

Cider Sunday is back and loaded with apples, activities, music, food, and fun! Help turn apples into cider using an old-fashioned cider press, test your skill at pumpkin bowling, win a cake at the cake walk, go on a guided nature hike along Wehr’s trails, make discoveries along the kid’s adventure trail, and enjoy apple cider and other tasty treats!

Cost: $3 per person (ages 2 and under are free); $4 per vehicle parking
