Top Weekend Events For Kids (Dec. 2-5, 2021)

Jingle, jingle, jingle! There’s never been a better time to get the kids into the holiday spirit with a festive event in the Milwaukee area. There are so many to choose from this weekend! Here are a few of our top picks:

1. Candy Corners Lane (The Corners of Brookfield)

November 27 – December 31
Admission: FREE

Visit The Corners of Brookfield to experience the first year of Candy Corners Lane! Walk through dazzling pathways, enjoy over 4,000 feet of lights, a gingerbread house, a candy cane archway, magical selfie stations and more. There will also be a North Pole mailbox located in the Market Square vestibule, where kids can drop their letters to Santa. Get more info >>

2. Christmas in the Ward

Friday, Dec. 3, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Asmission: FREE

Every year in the Historic Third Ward, there’s a magical tree lighting in Catalano Square. The event is highlighted by live entertainment,, costumed characters, a fireworks show over the Milwaukee River, and more. You can visit with Santa in Jolly’s Outdoor Gingerbread House, meet live reindeer with Mrs. Claus, and chat with Santa’s elves. Refreshment options include festive fare from Third Ward restaurants and food trucks, hot cocoa, and a cookie sale to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities.  Get the details >>

3. Holiday Classics Retro Series (Marcus Theaters)

Dec. 3-16 (various showtimes)
Admission: $5 per person

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and Marcus Theaters want to celebrate it with you! Bring the whole family to see classic holiday films back on the big screen! Tickets are only $5. During the first week (Dec. 3-9), they’ll be showing Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, Elf, White Christmas, and A Christmas Story. (Movie selections and showtimes vary by location. 4. Candy Cane Lane

November 26 – December 26; 6-9 p.m. on weekdays, 5-10 p.m. on Saturday, 5-9 p.m. on Sunday
Admission: Free-will donation to the MACC Fund

The lights are aglow! Candy Cane Lane in West Allis is making spirits and sidewalks bright once again. Since 1984, this event has grown to include 300+ homes and has raised more than $3 million dollars for the MACC Fund. From Montana Avenue on the north to Oklahoma Avenue on the south, and from 96th Street on the west to 92nd Street on the East, you can drive or stroll by spectacular residential holiday light displays every night until December 26. 5. West Allis Christmas Parade

Saturday, Dec. 4. 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Admission: FREE

The West Allis Christmas Parade is an annual holiday tradition and the premier night-time Christmas parade in southeast Wisconsin! The route starts at 81st Street (State Fair Park entrance Gate 2) and proceeds east on Greenfield Avenue to 70th Street, then south to Orchard Avenue. The parade doesn’t start until 4:45 p.m., but you’ll want to arrive earlier to catch Allis in Winterland (3:30 p.m.) and the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony (4 p.m.) at City Hall. 6. An Enchanted Christmas – Festive Friday Evening (Cedarburg Art Museum)

Friday, December 3, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Admission: Suggested $5 donation

After admiring the holiday decorations, miniature trains and vintage toys inside the Cedarburg Art Museum, wander on back to the Outdoor Courtyard and Sculpture Garden for lights, holiday music, and Christmas films projected on the outdoor stage. Don’t forget to find all the snowmen in the garden’s scavenger hunt!  Stay warm by the fire pits with hot cocoa and hot apple cider (spiked versions available for 21+), and freshly baked cookies.  Beer, wine, soda, and water will also be available at the Lakefront Brewery Carriage Tap House. Learn more >>

7. Dickens of a Village in Greendale

Friday, December 3, 5-9 p.m.
Admission: FREE

Check off your holiday shopping list while you enjoy strolling carolers, bell and chamber choirs, horse-drawn wagon rides, Santa’s sleigh hay ride and live reindeer! Kids can visit with Santa, write their letters to Santa, and participate in arts and crafts, while adults stroll through the Village with a hot mulled wine in a commemorative Dickens tin mug.
