The Hop, presented by Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, got a festive makeover this holiday season, thanks to the streetcar’s newest partner, Everstream. The “Hoppy Holidays” holiday-themed streetcar made its debut in November, in coordination with the City’s annual tree lighting event.
The newly-decorated streetcar features a winter wonderland design on the outside, and interior decorations and lights meant to evoke the warmth and coziness of a holiday celebration.
The “Hoppy Holidays” streetcar is the perfect way to access many of the city’s great holiday events, providing festive and free transportation in the heart of the city.
3 Hop Stops Your Kids Will Love
1. Milwaukee Public Market
Warm up with a hot cocoa and enjoy the view from the second floor Palm Garden, or grab lunch together from one of the independent merchants.
2. Cathedral Square
Stroll through the twinkling Community Spirit Park, where area schools and nonprofits have embellished more than 90 trees. Pay close attention to each tree’s theme. The newly standing evergreens are adorned with handmade ornaments, which represent each group’s wish for the season. Drop off your letter to Santa at Santa's Mailbox on the north end of the park!
3. Burns Commons
The first (or last) stop on the Hop is Burns Commons, where you can try you best to be the "K" in the big orange MKE sculpture.
Everstream-branded “Hoppy Holidays” streetcar will feature additional holiday-themed entertainment throughout the holiday season. For more information on The Hop, visit www.thehopmke.com.
The Hop and Everstream, the Business-Only Fiber Network, announced a new partnership on Nov. 1, which also includes free fares for all streetcar riders this holiday season. Everstream recently announced its expansion into the greater Milwaukee area. The company is investing $27 million in Milwaukee and by the end of 2020, Everstream plans to build a 560-mile fiber network. Coinciding with Everstream’s expansion into Milwaukee, the company has opened a new downtown field office that will grow to more than 20 new Milwaukee-based employees. Everstream’s sponsorship of free streetcar fares began Saturday, Nov. 2, when The Hop officially entered its second year of operations, and continues through Dec. 31.
