Review: The Original Pancake House on Downer

Let's talk breakfast. Do you love it as much as I do? I'm talking fluffy pancakes, mouth-watering waffles, omelettes packed with veggies, scrambled eggs, thick bacon (I don't eat bacon but the people I love do), and fresh orange juice.

There's nothing like a huge, hearty, artery-clogging breakfast to start off your weekend.

And what could be better than someone making it for you, in a place that's kid-friendly?

One of our favorite breakfast spots is The Original Pancake House on Downer (there's also a location in Brookfield) opens at 7:00 a.m. every day of the week. So when your kids wake you up at 6:30 a.m. on a Sunday, now you have somewhere to go.

So let's review the things I liked about it:

The mugs. Check. (And the coffee.)

The staff is friendly and welcoming to families. Check.

Their booths are huge. Check.

They have booster seats and high chairs galore. Check.

They give you coloring sheets and crayons right away. Check.

Their menu is highly customizable. (Substitute chocolate chip pancakes? Sure!)

The food is delicious. I had the waffle with fresh berries and whipped cream, and my mouth just started to water by simply typing those words.

Finally, it's just fun to have three different kinds of syrups to choose from. I mean, don't we all deserve that?

I should also mention that the portions are huge. The omelettes are literally bigger than your head. Depending on how much your kids eat, they could probably split a kid's meal. Or, you'll just have a nice amount of leftovers to take home.

So, if you're looking for kid-friendly, big portions, deliciousness, and open early, you've found the one.

Oh, I almost forgot that this happened on the way home:
