You don't have to spend a fortune to make fun memories with your kids this month. Check out this round-up of completely free, family-friendly events!
1. Dr. Seuss's birthday celebrations
There are free events all over town with magicians, folk music, stories, birthday treats and more. Events take place at Milwaukee Public Libraries, Oak Creek Library, Barnes & Noble Bayshore, and more!
2. Kids activities at the Milwaukee County Winter Farmer's Market
Every Saturday in the Greenhouse Annex at the Mitchell Park Conservatory (The Domes) from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., you can join nearly 50 local vendors weekly for Milwaukee's premier winter farmers market. There’s free parking and admission to the market.
Special on March 18th, Tiny Green Trees will be doing face painting and veggie stamping.
Story time on March 25th will feature Over in the Meadow by Ezra Jack Keats.
3. Pajama Story Time at East Library Monday, March 6th
6:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Families with young children are invited to join us for pajama story time. If you'd like, come dressed in your coziest PJs and bring a stuffed animal friend. We will have fun sharing stories, songs, and rhymes designed to develop early literacy skills and encourage a love of reading.

4. Fox and Branch shows for kids

Wednesday, March 8th 5:00-6:00 at Capitol Library
Sunday, March 26th 11:00-12:00 at Anodyne Coffee Roasters on Bruce St.
A Fox and Branch family show is all about audience participation. The kids get to sing, clap, dance and play rhythm instruments. Adults get to enjoy the music, clap and sing along. Fox & Branch draws material from American roots sources and from world traditions.

6. Yoga for families
Join in for morning stretches and mindfulness inspired by stories. A teacher from OmTown Yogis will share a book or two, while guiding children and their families through breathing exercises and yoga poses. No equipment is necessary, but comfy clothes are encouraged. All ages—even the littlest wigglers!—are invited to participate with an accompanying adult. OmTown teachers gladly welcome and are trained to work with young children. Wear comfy clothes!
7. The LEGO® Batman Movie Event
Barnes & Noble Bayshore
Celebrate the release of The LEGO® Batman Movie. At each event, kids can collect two limited edition trading cards (while supplies last) featuring characters from the movie. The cards collected at all three events will unveil a special scene. Enjoy giveaways, make and play themed moments with LEGO® bricks and blocks plus much more.
8. Read to Rover
Saturday March 11th
North Shore Library
Kaya, a certified therapy dog, visits the library once a month to hear stories read by you. No registration is needed. Sign up begins the morning of the program in the community room. Ages 5-10 years old.
9. Lil Kickers Open House & Free Soccer Class

Lil’ Kickers is a child development program filled with creativity, high-energy coaches and loads of fun for kids ages 18 mos & up. Come try a class for free and receive a free green mini ball!
10. Kids Build Workshop
Saturday, March 18th

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Kids Build Workshop events are two-hour workshops held for children ages 5-12. At these workshops, kids have the opportunity to make wood projects, as well as build their skills and confidence. The workshops are limited to 30 kids each month, who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Council staff and members will be on hand to help children make their projects and learn new skills. Projects may include the following: small bench, bookends, tool box, key holder/jewelry hanger, candy dispenser, planter, birdhouse, etc. Tools will be supplied and there are no fees to participate. Children will be able to take their projects home to enjoy, along with a certificate of project completion. Kids Build workshops will be held at the Events are free but children must register.
