Here are some unique places to visit Santa this holiday season, each one packed with local character.

Very Merry Milwaukee Picture With Santa Event

Join us for a fun family favorite at the Milwaukee County Historical Society. All are welcome for a chance to see Santa and his friend, Billie the Brownie. Get your picture taken with Santa, see the Historical Center decorated for the season and enjoy our Milwaukee Holiday Treasures and Traditions exhibit. Visitors can also listen to Mrs. Claus as she reads a holiday favorite, participate in a coloring activity or write a letter to Santa so he doesn’t forget any wishes! Cookies, Hot Chocolate, and Snowman Sundaes will be for sale at Mrs. Claus’ kitchen.

Cathedral Square Park

The Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival is rolling out the red carpet. Straight from the North Pole, Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit Cathedral Square Park, 520 E. Wells St., on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of the annual cocoa klatch, Cocoa with the Clauses. The free outdoor event is a chance for kids to share their wish lists, and for moms and dads to snap a free keepsake photo provided they bring a camera. Elves and other holiday characters will be there, plus DJ Shawna will spin holiday hits. Other free treats include hot cocoa, cookies and face painting. While the outdoor event is free to attend, a nonperishable food donation for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is encouraged. After visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus, families are invited to enjoy lunch downtown. Several restaurants near Cathedral Square Park will offer kid-friendly menus at budget-conscious prices, just for the occasion. Menus will be distributed at the event.

Santa at the North Point Lighthouse Museum

Sunday Dec. 10th and Sunday Dec 17th

Admission is $8 for adults • $5 for adults age 65+ with ID • $5 for children age 5-11 • No charge for children age 4 and under.

Have your picture taken with Santa in his vintage maritime workshop. Did you know that Santa uses lighthouses to find your house on Christmas Eve? In fact, he’ll be at The North Point Lighthouse Museum telling you about the legend of Christmas and all about the history of the North Point Lighthouse built in 1888. You can take your own photos with him in his vintage maritime workshop complete with classic toys and ships. The NPLH museum is located at 2650 N. Wahl Ave in Milwaukee’s historic Lake Park. The North Point Light Station consists of a 74-foot lighthouse tower and two and a half story wood-frame Keeper’s Quarters. Visitors are invited to enjoy the museum and climb the tower during public hours on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m., with additional hours in the summer.

An Old World Christmas

Travel back in time and stroll through the 1880’s Crossroads Village decked in homemade holiday greenery, full of homes and shops bustling with historic holiday preparations. Wisconsin’s rich ethnic heritage come to life with holiday preparations, traditional European Christmas characters like Krampus, and horse-drawn bobsled rides around the village.

You’ll see preparations for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day festivities in the late 19th century and encounter figures from Christmas stories, like St. Nicholas, Jultomte, Krampus and of course, Santa Claus. Hear live, traditional, holiday brass carols, join in a Hymn Sing, learn about the origins of the Christmas Tree, and keep warm with cider or a cup of wassail. Enjoy holiday treats, hear old Christmas tale storytelling, decorate the holiday tree, make historic holiday crafts, and watch the blacksmith make winter tools.

Snow Day at Discovery World

Discovery world is celebrating the science of snow with cool activities, labs and games! Learn all about science behind snowflakes using molecular models to understand how snowflakes take their unique shape. Take a break from the stress of shopping and preparing for the holidays by spending the day with family exploring Snow Day at Discovery World! Breakfast & Lunch with Santa at the Milwaukee County Zoo

Dec. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 & 17

Price includes Zoo admission and breakfast or lunch. Zoological Society membership is not valid. Parking is $12.

Make your plans now to join for holiday cheer and celebration as Santa and Mrs. Claus and their merry elves make their annual trip to the Milwaukee County Zoo to visit children for a special breakfast or lunch, featuring Racine Danish Kringle! Breakfast is served at 9 a.m. and lunch is at noon Saturdays and Sundays.

During each of the seatings, visitors are encouraged to join in the fun and merriment of Fred Turk, as he sings everyone’s favorite holiday carols. Santa will make his entrance with Mrs. Claus and the elves, and share a special gift with each child.

Children must attend with an adult. Please bring your confirmation form. All seats are reserved and seating is assigned at the time reservation forms are received by the Zoo. This event sells out quickly. All children, regardless of age, must have a reservation. Due to limited space, strollers cannot be accommodated at the tables, and the Zoo does not provide booster seats or highchairs.

Breakfast includes pancakes, baked egg muffin with cheddar, sausage links, country potatoes, fresh fruit, a cookies, and Racine Danish Kringle. Lunch includes pulled barbecue pork slider, chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese, homemade chips, a pickle, fresh fruit, a cookie, and Racine Danish Kringle. Visitors with allergies/health issues are asked to bring their own replacements to the meals. Some of the Zoo’s menu items do use products that contain nuts.
