It may not look like a typical February, but Cedarburg is gearing up for it’s Winter Festival, set for this Saturday, February 18 and Sunday, February 19.
This year’s theme is Mardi Gras, and festivities will take place throughout the heart of Cedarburg on Washington Avenue from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The popular Ice Carving Contest features 300-pound blocks of ice transformed into glistening pieces of creative art by talented ice carvers.
Be sure to catch the Winter Festival Grand Parade at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, with themed bed racing teams as well as fire trucks, costumed characters, and other fun participants.
The parade heads down Washington Avenue to the frozen pond of Cedar Creek for the start of the popular and hilarious Costumed Bed Races on Ice Competition at 1:30 p.m, followed by the challenging Barrel Races on Cedar Creek at 2 p.m. Following the barrel races enjoy open Family Skating on the Mill Pond and on the Festive Ice Rink located in Cedar Creek Park.
In addition, there will be tractor-drawn hay wagon rides, or fest-goers can stroll along Washington Avenue and the Cedar Creek Settlement where some shops and studios will be offering special crafts & activities.
Families looking for outdoor fun can enjoy camel rides, egg hunts, sledding, ice skating and an old-fashioned dog pull.
Finally, don’t miss the new Cedarburg History Museum, where guests can enjoy complimentary local Cedar Crest ice cream in our old fashioned ice cream parlor.
Other fun activities include chili contests, a pancake breakfast with kids’ activities, a Dog Weight Pull Competition, a Winter Book Sale, a “make and take” along with coffee/cocoa and sweets bar hosted by the The Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts, live music in the Cedar Creek Settlement, and much more!
