It's finally here! It's the opening weekend of ice skating at the Slice of Ice in Red Arrow Park. You can skate from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
The rink is 128 ft. by 95 ft. and accommodates 100 skaters comfortably. And yes, it's actually bigger than the rink at Rockefeller Center. (Take that, New York City!) The rink has a 3 and half foot railing to hang on to if you aren't a strong skater.
You can get ready, warm up, and have a great view of the rink from the warming house, which includes restroom facilities, ice skate rentals, limited lockers, Starbucks, and soda and snacks.
Don't miss the Holiday Hoopla on December 21st from 4:00-7:00 p.m. It's a free event with Santa, live music, giveaways and more.
You can skate for free if you have your own ice skates. Otherwise, rentals are available from toddler size 8, to women's size 11 and men's size 14. They cost $8.00 for adult and $7.00 for 18 and under.
The rink will be open through February or March, weather permitting.
