Milwaukee's newest beer garden will open the 2016 season at South Shore Terrace with a ceremonial keg tapping, Wednesday, April 20 at 4 p.m. (South Shore Park is located at 2900 S. Shore Dr.)
The public is invited to share in the tapping with free beer or soda, while supplies last. Created in 2015, the beachside concessions area features the Miller 1855 Bar, with a nearly 30-foot-long concrete and cedar counter and 20 tap handles.
The new gathering space, open spring through fall, includes a cedar pergola, two stamped-concrete stages, and gas fire pits for ambiance and warmth on cool evenings.
Enjoy views of Lake Michigan and check out the nearby playground with your kids.
Don't miss the mural depicting a crowded rathskeller as a working man’s respite. A second mural, featuring Bay View’s history, is planned.
Concessions throughout the season will include snacks, Pepsi products, and a variety of MillerCoors American lagers, craft beers, and ciders.
Hours of concessions operations will be Wednesday–Friday from 4–10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.–10 p.m., with last call at 9 p.m. For more about South Shore Terrace, the beer gardens, and the Traveling Beer Garden, visit countyparks.com and search "beer garden."
