From Sap to Syrup! Maple Sugaring (Urban Ecology Center - Washington Park in Milwaukee)

Take an in depth look into maple sap harvesting in Washington Park and how maple syrup is made. This program will be both indoors and out. After exploring, enjoy pancakes with homemade maple syrup.

It's Maple Sugar Time at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center (Bayside)

The month is March, here comes the melting snow, muddy shoes and maple sugar! Bring your big boots and sweet tooth, and travel through the stages of making maple syrup, from tapping trees to boiling sap and of course sampling the final product. The program starts inside with a story of how maple sugaring may have been discovered, followed by a short movie all about the magic of maple sugar. Then you'll head outside to visit the sugar farmer at the evaporator and maple trees. Top it all off with real maple syrup over two silver dollar sized pancakes.
Whether you’re looking for a new way to love March or a seasoned maple sugar farmer celebrating the tradition, you won’t want to miss this sappy sweet Audubon adventure. Come celebrate the sweetest of seasons, it’s Maple Sugar Time!

Maple Sugarin’ Festival (Riveredge Nature Center in Saukville)
March 19, 10 AM – 3 PM
Let the celebration begin! Go on a journey through the sugarbush where you will experience the maple sugarin’ season like never before. Learn how to tap a maple tree, participate in arts & crafts, live music and much more. See how sap is transformed into syrup and, of course, enjoy pancakes and real maple syrup.
Maple Sugar Days (Wehr Nature Center in Franklin)
March 19-20, 2016
Celebrate the spring thaw and our Wisconsin heritage at Maple Sugar Days. The program includes a short walk to the sugarbush, a visit to an old-time sugarin’ camp, a boil down demonstration and hands-on activities for children. A pancake with real maple syrup will top off your day. The guided hikes begin at 1:00 p.m. and continue every 15 minutes until 4 pm. Maple sugar treats and tapping equipment will be available for purchase.
