Free Winterfest includes sledding, free local pie

Did somebody say free pie?

The Urban Ecology Center is hosting its 8th annual Winterfest this Saturday, January 23rd at the Urban Ecology Center in Washington Park from 12:00-4:00 p.m.

With temperatures expected to warm up to the low 30s, 500-600 kids and families are expected to come out to enjoy the festivities.

Winterfest is free and open to the public (donations are always welcome).

Outdoor winter activities will include sledding, snowshoeing, ice skating (weather permitting), “exploding art” STEM-themed crafts, demonstrations with resident animals, and live music. Volunteers will be on hand to help first-time ice skaters.

And yes, you can also enjoy free locally-sourced pie, contributed by Community Pie, and free lunch.
