Free memberships for fourth graders at Riveredge Nature Center

The Riveredge Nature Center just outside of Saukville is now offering a free one-year, all-access membership to 4th graders in southeastern Wisconsin as part of the Every Kid in the Park initiative.

The nature center is about a 30 minutes drive from Milwaukee.

The membership will allow families to enjoy the outdoors all year long, with over ten miles of trails and many family programs. Swing from the tree tops, catch crayfish in the river, tap a maple tree, or relax in the hammocks.

Riveredge will be planning special pop up activities just for fourth graders all year long.

Studies continue to show that time spent outdoors increases creativity, reduces stress, improves mood, and even boosts health! One study reports that children who interact with nature before the age of 11 are more likely to have positive attitudes towards nature and the environment when they are older.

This project is in partnership with the “Every Kid In a Park” initiative, which is giving every U.S. 4th grader and his or her family free access to any national park, forest, land or water for an entire year. Fourth graders are able to register for a pass that allows them and their family to experience all the beautiful natural areas the country has to offer. To learn more about the Every Kid in a Park initiative and to sign up for a pass, visit their site at https://www.everykidinapark.gov.
