Milwaukee’s Christkindlmarket offers kids activities November 19-22

Milwaukee is joining the ranks of cultured European states and American cities like Chicago, Baltimore and Denver with its own version of a Christkindlmarket.

And there will be plenty of activities for the kids!

A Christmas market, also known as Christkindlmarkt, is a street market associated with the celebration of Christmas during the four weeks of Advent. These markets originated in Germany, Austria, South Tyrol, North Italy and many French regions, but are now being held in many other countries.

It is a chance for Milwaukee to embrace and celebrate its German roots. There will be live German music, and German food and beverages such as schnitzel, sauerbraten, strudel, bratwursts, potato pancakes, pretzels, soups, roasted nuts, stollen, hot chocolate and Gluhwein (hot spiced wine).

Browse the Christmas goods from 20 vendors selling steins, Hummel figurines, Christmas ornaments, imported German chocolate candies, cookies, gingerbreads, marzipan, Advent calendars, hand-sewn clothing, spices, cheeses and wreaths.

Kids can enjoy performances by Kohl’s Wild Theater from the Milwaukee County Zoo, as well as costumed storytellers, cookie decorating stations, and a tree lighting ceremony.

Don’t miss your chance to take a picture with the statues of Captain Frederick Pabst and King Gambrinus, the Patron Saint of Beer.

Admission is Free. The event will be held indoors and outdoors at Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery located at 901 W. Juneau Ave.
