You may have seen Florence Eiseman children’s clothes in places like Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue, but many don’t know that Florence Eiseman was a Milwaukee mother herself.
As a new mom Mrs. Eiseman taught herself to sew and began making clothing for her two sons. When her husband’s business began to struggle, he decided to bring some of her samples to Marshall Field’s in Chicago.
He returned with a $3,000 order, and a business was born.
What began as a hobby quickly evolved into a thriving business.
Florence Eiseman’s long list of loyal customers includes many notables like Jackie Kennedy and many royal families. More recently Suri Cruise has been spotted wearing Florence Eiseman.
Eiseman garments have a unique look that results from Mrs. Eiseman’s specific views on how children should be dressed. She insisted that children should not be dressed like miniature adults, but rather the clothing should allow the child’s personality to prevail. Fine fabrics and careful construction results in garments that are classic, comfortable and durable.
