The Betty Brinn Children’s Museum invites children and families to help plant its balcony flower boxes on June 18 from 5 – 8 p.m., during its free US Bank & FOX 6 Neighborhood Night. Staff from the Museum and from partnering community organizations will be on hand to help little ones learn about planting, watering and caring for a garden.
What: “Blooming Balcony” night during US Bank & FOX 6 Neighborhood Night, the Museum’s monthly free admission evening
Where: Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, 929 E. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee
When: Thursday, June 18; free admission from 5 – 8 p.m. and gardening activities from 5 – 7:30 p.m.
What: The evening’s activities include:
– Help plant the Museum’s garden boxes with guidance from Museum staff and the Urban Ecology Center
– Make plantable seed paper with staff from Boerner Botanical Gardens to create a garden at home- Learn about natural resources and ways to explore the great outdoors with the U.S.D.A. Forest Service and enjoy visits by Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl
– Learn how to be a Super Reader and join special story times with the Milwaukee Public Library
– Each child can receive a free book, courtesy of Half Price Books, while supplies last- Stop by the Museum’s Be A Maker space for a special DIY project and work with mentors from BBCM and Milwaukee Makerspace to help complete a large-scale 3D collaborative sculpture that will be displayed at the Museum starting in July.
