Just an hour from Milwaukee, a world-class theme park awaits you that offers the world’s tallest, fastest and steepest wooden roller coaster (“Goliath”), the world’s tallest carousel, and tons of family fun for all ages (really!).
Six Flags Great America is commemorating 40 years, and to celebrate they’re offering double rides, Fireworks Fridays, and a new children’s area for junior thrill-seekers.
We got a chance to visit the new children’s area, Hometown Park, last Friday. The area offers three rides appropriate for toddlers and pre-schoolers. You can choose from a ladybug themed merry-go-round, the Red Baron Airplanes in which kids can control the height that they fly, and horse-and-buggy carriages that the kids insisted on riding four times in a row.
Between Hometown Park, the enchanting two-level carousel, and the friendly Looney Tunes characters, we were busy all morning.
But the biggest surprise of the day was that my four year old is now officially old and tall enough to ride a legitimate roller coaster. He laughed all the way through the Whizzer, and the high speeds and twists and turns did not even phase him (though they were terrifying for me).
Our trip to Six Flag made family bonding easy, and we will definitely return soon.
