Fireflies: Nature’s Fireworks

Whether you call them lightning bugs or fireflies, these bioluminescent beetles light up our summer nights. Why do they flash? What makes them glow? Take a journey to their favorite spot at the center with Naturalist Melanie Ziolecki to observe and find out! You will learn how to identify common species by their flash patterns and see them up close. We will enjoy s’mores before you and the fireflies head to bed. This program is designed for children aged 4 and older; children must be accompanied by an adult. This program will take place entirely outdoors. In case of inclement weather, a portion of the program will take place indoors.
