Be a Monarch Foster Family

Kids will have the opportunity to learn about and provide weekly care to monarchs in all phases of life. During this process, kids will interact with seniors at a local assisted living facility and develop organic intergenerational relationships.

KIC families can foster a monarch family for the summer at Newcastle Place or Luther Manor at River Oaks. All equipment and training will be provided, along with help finding milkweed, eggs, and baby caterpillars to supply to the habitats through the summer. Each habitat will need to be supplied with fresh milkweed 3-4 times weekly–a responsibility shared among families who register. The days and times are flexible, and we have “subs on call” for the days your family is busy or out of town. I encourage you to spread your wings and become a Monarch Foster Family this summer!
