Lynden’s summer art and nature workshops integrate our collection of monumental outdoor sculpture and temporary installations with the natural ecology of our hidden landscapes and unique habitats. Led by Lynden education staff, these standalone outdoor workshops are built around biweekly themes that suggest imaginative possibilities and promote intimate discoveries in art and nature through collaborative (but well-distanced) inquiry and hands-on artmaking. Lynden is committed to making its programs available to all. Need-based tuition waivers are available.

Camp Vertical & Camp Zoom are faith based day camps offered at Elmbrook Church campuses. Kids from age 4 to those entering 6th grade in the fall will experience a high-energy, fast paced, fun environment. Cost for camp is $129 weekly with extended care offered at an additional cost.

First Stage Theater Academy, the nation’s leading high-impact theater training program for young people, is offering some of its Summer Academy programs virtually this summer, with classes beginning Monday, June 15, 2020. Limited in-person classes will also be offered at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center beginning July 6, 2020. Both virtual and in-person classes will follow First Stage’s curriculum of Acting, Musical Theater, Improvisation and more led by professional theater artists, fostering life skills through stage skills. Classes are available for students entering grades K3 – 12 this fall.

In lieu of in-person camps, this summer, we are offering online courses for students in first through twelfth grade. Our programs will provide students from the Milwaukee area the opportunity to engage with our USM and Summer I.D.E.A.S. faculty in weekly synchronous lessons focused on math, literacy and enrichment experiences. Additionally, our Summer Institute for Academic Advancement courses will enable students to take University School of Milwaukee courses for-credit in condensed two- or three-week sessions. Open to students in Pre-K through 12th Grade, Summer on the Prairie offers unmatched opportunities to create, discover, and grow — all on our beautiful campus along the shores of Lake Michigan. Taught by Prairie’s expert faculty, our camps and workshops provide hands-on activities in a creative, enriching environment.
Delve into childhood favorites through ballet, scenic and costume design, craft-making, music study and choreography. A special visit from a Milwaukee Ballet dancer and musician are the star-studded highlights of the week! Students share their accomplishments in a mini-performance on the last day and bring home their creations.

Although we will be offering fewer camps, our team of professional arts educators will deliver the same high-quality arts programming we have been offering for over 25 years. Exploration, creativity, and play are needed now more than ever! Danceworks is dedicated to helping students see the world through their own imagination. We hope you will join us this summer! Please note: Danceworks faculty has extensive experience in addressing a wide range of skills and abilities within a classroom.
